Shmuel Abba Twersky edit

  • ... that Shmuel Abba Twersky's attempt to leave Ukraine to become the Makarover Rebbe of Winnipeg, Canada, in the 1920s was held up by two years of bureaucratic red tape? Source: "Shmuel Abba’s imminent arrival in Winnipeg following two years of negotiations was covered by the local Yiddish press" (The Forgotten Hasidim); "After a long and complicated bureaucratic process, he finally succeeded in obtaining the necessary documents to immigrate to Canada" (Hamodia)

  • Review Earwig is clear. New article timely nominated. Long enough. No evidence of copy vios or close paraphrasing. Hook is interesting (although somewhat verbose) and supported by in line/on line sources "After a long and complicated bureaucratic process, he finally succeeded in obtaining the necessary documents to immigrate to Canada." Arguably one could quibble with the hook, since apparently it was his immigration to Canada that was held up, not his emigration from Ukraine (syntax). QPQ confirmed. I think the hook needs work. 7&6=thirteen () 12:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, thanks for the review. It's my understanding that the bureaucratic process was on the Ukrainians' part, not the Canadians'. But maybe the Hamodia source is saying differently. Unfortunately, there are very few other sources on him. Here is an alt hook:
  • ALT1: ... that Shmuel Abba Twersky's immigration to Canada from Ukraine – to serve as Makarover Rebbe of Winnipeg in the 1920s – was held up by two years of bureaucratic red tape? Yoninah (talk) 14:50, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Review I tweaked the ALT1 hook for clarity. No problems, ready for DYK. The sources are a little unclear as to whose Red tape it was, but SNAFU seems to cover it. 7&6=thirteen () 15:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
