List of places of worship in Reigate and Banstead edit

Reigate Heath Windmill—an 18th-century windmill which now serves as Reigate Mill Church

  • Reviewed: Matt Perrins (review #5) from this six-article nomination
  • Comment: I have a feeling that if a picture is required for this hook, the windmill might be the most interesting, given that it's used as a church (!); but the mosque picture and the ancient-artefacts church picture are linked here as well just in case. As usual with one of these list articles, the facts mentioned in the hook are stated and directly referenced in the "Overview of the borough" paragraph as well as in the individual list entry.

  • New enough, long enough, QPQ checks out. Hook length=192 characters. Hook fact supported in sources. Hook fact interesting and smart, but no need to wikify 'mosque' it seems to me. Page is within policy (cites sources extensively and copyvio check, dup detector, and checks on 10 sentences found no close paraphrasing). Picture is good (not fair use) and pretty cool. My only question is where the list derives from? Every fact in the article is verified except that "As of 2013, there are 71 places of worship". It may be in there, but I looked at sources and couldn't find it. The reason I ask is because of whether St. Bede's School should be included (because of [this], or if there is some definitive list of certified places of worship that we can use to justify excluding the locations of worship for mobile religious congregations, places for small congregations, and places for non-organized worship (meditation, angel spirituality, etc.). If there is some list or directory upon which your list is based, then article is good to go. Looking forward to a response to finish the assessment. The total at the top is simply based on a count of the entries in the list (I can't find the link at the moment, but there's a policy somewhere saying this is acceptable). As far as entries in the list go, each time I do one of these lists my rationale is as follows. If the place of worship has a record of registration in the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855 (see here for the list as of April 2010; also cited where necessary in the list), and it occupies its own building (i.e. not part of a school, village hall, private house etc), then it is in scope. Also out of scope are the likes of school, hospital, prison, convent and similar chapels, unless used for public worship and/or registered for marriages (marriage registration details are recorded in The London Gazette and cited where appropriate). Anglican churches, which do not need to register under the Act, are taken from the lists of churches within the relevant diocese (in this case, Southwark and Guildford Dioceses) which are published on their websites, and are also summarised by geographical area at www.achurchnearyou.com. I looked at the Redhill & Reigate Community Church example when doing my research, but as it does not occupy its own building nor is registered under the Act, I have omitted it. Hope that makes sense; this has always been my approach across these series of lists, and it has always been accepted. If you feel more, or more specific, citations are needed anywhere in the lead or the body of the list, let me know. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 08:28, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
I'll AGF on the policy, no need to dig it up. The reasoning and use of the Places of Worship registration act seem very sufficient for there to be no POV exclusion likely. DYK good to go. AbstractIllusions (talk) 13:49, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
