List of United States Presidents by net worth edit

Created/expanded by Futurist110 (talk). Self nom at 07:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Does not meet the size criteria. There is only a table and virtually no prose. Regards.--Kürbis () 21:14, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
I have now added a lot of prose to this article. Futurist110 (talk) 03:17, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

New reviewer needed. I think there should be a lead, at least one sentence long. Regards.--Kürbis () 10:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

This isn't intended to be a review, but I do note that the citations need to be fixed to remove bare URLs (see WP:DYKSG rule D3). Never mind, I just discovered reflinks... Cmprince (talk) 16:42, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
I have now added a lead. Futurist110 (talk) 17:02, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
I find the table too small in lenght. Perhaps add pictures? Regards.--Kürbis () 17:13, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
The former Overview suits perfectly now as a lead. I changed the wording of a sentence, to make it more neutral. Diego Grez (talk) 17:18, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Anyway, is my article ready to get a DYK nomination now? Futurist110 (talk) 19:03, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
I have now added some pictures to my article. Does my article need anything else to be added or fixed? Futurist110 (talk) 21:29, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
I also enlarged the table right now. Futurist110 (talk) 22:33, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

— Looks good to me. The hook is properly referenced in the article, and is certainly hookworthy (unless you want to include that JFK was 2x wealthier than Washington, but not necessary). Doesn't seem to be any copyvio or plagiarism either, and looks like a good referenced article. Hook is also found in the article itself and is referenced. --Activism1234 05:12, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much, Activism1234. I don't think that including details (such as JFK being almost 2 times wealthier than Washington) is really necessary, since I still get my point across. So this article is good to go now? Futurist110 (talk) 06:07, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
I hate to quibble this late in the process, but there is a great deal of subjectivity to calculating the net worth of historical figures and in adjusting for historical currency values. Some lists put Washington and Jefferson ahead of Kennedy. Here is just one, but I have seen others. Ideally, the article would include different studies in different columns. As a band-aid, I would settle for attribution to the source in the hook. Are the list's measurements of Washington, Jefferson, and Kennedy at least coming from the same source? Savidan 18:11, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Your source only conflicts with the JFK wealth data, which I now fixed to include your source as a possible amount of wealth for him. All of the data in this article comes from the same source, a graphic in Time Magazine. If you have any other reliable sources with different Presidential wealth amounts in 2010 dollars, please let me know. Futurist110 (talk) 21:45, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
That's fine as to the list. As to the hook, I think you must add "according to..." because JFK is no longer the undisputed first. Either that or say its either Washington or JFK. In fact, the consensus view appears to be Washington. As for other sources, you can find loads with a google search. Britannica The Atlantic Business Insider Washington Post. They all appear to be based on Wall Street 24/7. Whoever puts Kennedy on top must be someone else. I don't claim that the Kennedy-on-top source is unreliable, but it's too much to put him as the undisputed leader. The Time source appears to include trust assets, which Kennedy did not own outright. For the hook:

I think it's much better to use this new hook (which is listed in the article) than the previous hook, since nothing is disputing or conflicting with this info about President Truman. Futurist110 22:20, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

  • The ALT1 hook is fine by me. Savidan 22:27, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much. So this article is good to go now? Futurist110 (talk) 22:33, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes. Savidan 22:46, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much. However, I decided to change my hook in an effort to get more views onto my page:

While I like President Truman, much more people are interested in Barack Obama, regardless of whether they like or dislike him. If you approve of my new Barack Obama hook, then I think we're good to go. Futurist110 (talk) 22:57, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

  • This hook confirmed as well. Although ALT2 does not violate any prohibition, I prefer ALT1. Hooks about candidates are disfavored near elections. Whoever adds it to the queue can make the decision. Savidan 23:03, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I'm not trying to influence the election but rather to get more people to view my page, since a page needs 5,000 or more views to be notable in the DYK? archive or something like that, and my previous two DYK? pages that got confirmed got less than half the number of views that I wanted.
