Lebanese general election, 1968 in Zgharta District edit

  • New enough (created Dec. 8th), Long enough (2000 characters), QPQ done at Template:Did you know nominations/Goodenia paniculata. Checked for paraphrasing for Zuwiyya source and seems fine. For the Hook: Good length and clearly supported in source. But I think it is more accurate to say "that a 27-year old law student was the sole challenger against the candidates of Maronite strongman Suleiman Frangieh..." Since Frangieh was not the only candidate, but got the two other supporters also, it seems that it is more accurate to say candidates. (That also avoids any English variation problems of candidature or candidacy which is not great) AbstractIllusions (talk) 19:49, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
I find the difference between the original and the alternative very small, but to some extent the original is more apt. Calling the running mates of Frangieh as "Frangieh's candidates" is a bit stretching it, in theory they would be of equal stature. The key here is that Frangieh ran and that there was only one counter-candidate. --Soman (talk) 07:43, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
How about "slate of candidates"? My problem is that candidature is singular and there were three candidates of Frangieh's affiliation. So the hook isn't correct right now because there were three challengers to Frangieh's candidature, but only one challenger to his selected slate of candidates. So: "against the slate of candidates of Maronite strongman...". How does that sound? AbstractIllusions (talk) 13:14, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm ok with ALT1. --Soman (talk) 13:52, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  • To reiterate: New enough, long enough, QPQ, Hook cited and supported in sources. ALT1 is good to go.
