Lagetta lagetto edit

Specimens of Lagetta lagetto, the lacebark tree, together with a sample of lacebark cloth and a whip made using lacebark. Plate IV from William Hooker's Journal of Botany and Kew Garden Miscellany, vol. II, 1850.

  • ... that producing a lace-like fabric from the inner bark of the rare Caribbean lacebark tree is now almost a lost art?
  • ALT1:... that the inner bark of the rare Caribbean lacebark tree is a fine, lacelike netting that has been used for centuries to make clothing, including a dress for Queen Victoria?
  • Comment: Am nominating this article because lacebark is so unusual and seems to be little known among the plants that have been used to produce textiles and clothing.
  • update: altered main hook to focus on the lost art rather than the unusual fabric itself.

  • no QPQ done as of yet, also a couple instances of very close paraphrasing/the same phrases used, possibly running afoul of policy.--Kevmin § 21:18, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Re QPQ, it was my understanding users were exempt until their 5th DYK and this is only my 2nd nomination. However, I went ahead anyway and started a QPQ on Patrick Roscoe (May 27), which turned out to be too short to pass. Since I am new to this whole process, I wasn't sure how much time to give the author to expand the article before closing out the QPQ, or if I should list it as my QPQ while it was still in process. Re copyvio, if you look carefully at a copyvio detector, the overlaps are all either quotations (in quote marks) or small phrases of the kind that it is almost impossible not to use when writing about a specific topic. I try very hard not to infringe other people's copyright and am more than happy to make further changes if you have identified places where there are specific issues. Thanks for any input on this.Alafarge (talk) 16:10, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Your correct on both points! My apologies. Article expansion new enough and long enough. References are in place and off line references taken agf. Alt1 Hook is cited more clearly and more interesting I think. No policy issues found. Good to go.--Kevmin § 15:38, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
