The first suggestion is not factually accurate. Page 170 of the cited source specifies that Wallace made the comment in 1995 after reviewing excerpts of the program "The Homosexuals", a CBS Reports episode that aired in 1967. ALT1 verified. ALT0 partially verified on pages 16 and 45 of the ref for the people mentioned, but failed verification for 1944, the alleged year of restoration. Hook lengths verified.
