Jake Olson (gridiron football) edit

Created by BU Rob13 (talk). Self-nominated at 15:37, 5 August 2015 (UTC).

  • New enough and long enough, QPQ done. Both hooks are sourced from a reputable source and avoid copyvio. They're certainly interesting as well. Although the title is gridiron, I'm fine with it saying American football, as it's what he was playing exclusively when these setbacks occurred. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Almightey Drill (talkcontribs) 18:31, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
I hate pulling hooks, but this hook is negative to this guys career and so is the alt. I went to look for a new hook but the guys career seems to be one injury after another. Maybe a hook that says something like ... DYK that JO is still doing something despite having several injuries? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victuallers (talkcontribs) 19:22, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
@Victuallers: I have to respectfully disagree with this. It's simply a statement of fact that he's been injured, and I consider it positive that he's still trucking. I've had many hooks run with injury information (see User:BU Rob13/DYK, at least three have run). We could perhaps adjust ALT1 to state he's still playing professionally? ~ RobTalk 19:54, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
ALT1b: ... that professional gridiron football player Jake Olson has a congenital disorder that caused him to dislocate his left knee once and his right knee twice?
It may be a fact but it can still be negative, I did consult. Alt1b fails this. If I was this guys manager then Id tell him to downplay the congenital knee problems and the frequent injuries and to talk about his successes, his determination, and ????. However his career so far seems to be all injuries. Surely there is more? I will step aside and let others decide. 20:23, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Let's hold this review a tad pending a discussion at DYK talk. I think this is something that more general consensus is needed on, as this potentially affects a large number of hooks and I do understand your concerns. ~ RobTalk 12:18, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
@Victuallers: How about this? I prefer ALT2 because I think ALT3 gives information that is too obscure. Those outside Canada are unlikely to know what the Grey Cup is. ~ RobTalk 08:51, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that Jake Olson played professional Canadian football despite a congenital disorder that caused him to dislocate his left knee once and his right knee twice?
ALT3 .(not checked).. that professional Canadian football player Jake Olson played in the 102nd Grey Cup despite a congenital disorder that caused him to dislocate his left knee once and his right knee twice?
Alt2 please restoring the tick based on Almighty drill's review above and discussion at DYK talk. Thanks for trhe article and your patience. Victuallers (talk) 20:28, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
