Holy Cross Crusaders women's ice hockey

Converted from a redirect by PMCH2 (talk). Self-nominated at 02:00, 23 October 2020 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: None required.

Overall: The hook citation is not available to me because I'm outside the US, so I take it AGF. I believe that this is the creator's first nomination, so there is no need for a QPQ. Just two issues: (1) Three paragraphs in the History section begin with a lower-case letter: "in ...". (2) Sources: (a) Two paragraphs One paragraph in the History section have has no citation at the end. (b) The Season by season results chart has the citation all on its own at the end (difficult to find). Could it be moved to just above the chart, with the word, "source"? (c) The Coaches section chart has no source. (The Awards and honors section, and the Holy Cross section are not fully sourced, but I guess that can wait until you can find sources later). And here is a story for you. I found out this week that my 3rd cousin, Hal Sullivan, an actor on CBC Radio Windsor (Canada) died in 2017. He was also an ice hockey goalie for much of his life. I met him once in the 90s, and he was a lovely guy, who told me a lot about ice hockey. So I'm doing this review in his memory. Let's make this a good one. • Thank you for resolving issue (1). The sourcing issue remains. Storye book (talk) 11:37, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
  • FYI, we do not promote hooks to the main page that have unlinked names. You could either write a stub for Katie Lachapelle or rewrite the hook. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:21, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
  • @PMCH2: Please see above comment by Yoninah? Thank you. Storye book (talk) 21:24, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. I will write a stub.PMCH2 (talk) 22:40, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
  • That's fine, but since the hook is all about her, readers are not going to click on the bolded link. I think you should write a hook with your nominated article as the subject. Yoninah (talk) 13:54, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Ok - how to I update the hook, in this submission process? Thanks in advance for the help?PMCH2 (talk) 17:29, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
  • @PMCH2: Place a new hook at the bottom of this thread. Number it ALT1. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 17:32, 25 November 2020 (UTC) Yoninah (talk) 17:33, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
ALT1 ... that the Holy Cross Crusaders women's ice hockey team became the tenth team in the women's division of the Hockey East Association in 2017?
  • I'm about to start a review of Katie LaChapelle. Please hold on. It's the end of the day in UK and I'm tired! Storye book (talk) 20:18, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Overall: For article Katie LaChapelle and hook ALT0a: hook checks out online with citation 17. One issue: all sourced, except Head coaching record section/table. (Please also see my previous review for Holy Cross Crusaders women's ice hockey, because this is now a double nom, and each article needs one more citation). Storye book (talk) 20:34, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Thank you to you both for your help in this process. Since I first wrote the original hook, I found out that the IHF canceled the 2021 Women's U-18 WOrld Championship that was scheduled for January 2021, which is the tournament that Lachapelle was hired for. So the original hook is less relevant now. I am not sure what else would make a good hook - I am still new at this. I will work on the sourcing issues in the HC Crusaders article, anyways, over the next 3 days. Thanks again! I really appreciate your feedback and evaluation. PMCH2 (talk) 02:01, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you, PMCH2. I would suggest a simple hook that says LaChapelle is head coach of HCC women's ice hockey, because the simple hooks work well, and it's always good to hear about successful women. Yoninah do you have an opinion about an alternative hook? Storye book (talk) 10:11, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, I like the Alt0b hook as written. Thanks! I have added sources to the section on year by year results for the Crusaders and to the section for Katie Lachapelle's head coaching career. I put the source for the latter on the section head - I have seen this done on other pages. If it would be better to put it within the section, I can move it.
  • Good to go with both articles and ALT0b. Thank you, PMCH2 and Yoninah. I have adjusted my reviews above to fit the present situation. Re the positioning of the reference on the subheading: I haven't seen that done before, and I'm not sure whether it is in accordance with WP house style. For a chart or list which shares a single source, a good place to put the ref is just below the subheading, with the word "Source" followed by the citation. All the best. Storye book (talk) 10:41, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
  • I see that the citation has been moved. It is showing up for me below the table; is that correct? Thank you so much for the review and helpful feedback. I would like to think that Hal would be happy. PMCH2 (talk) 01:46, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @PMCH2: Yes, I'm used to putting the citation after the chart for filmographies. If you want to move it to above the chart, feel free. Yoninah (talk) 10:23, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
  • I took it from USCHO. I have added the citation for the USCHO stats page on Holy Cross Crusaders (women). Thanks for catching that. PMCH2 (talk) 01:04, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @PMCH2: thank you, but the numbers don't line up. Are you just adding up Katie Lachapelle's win line and making a new percentage? Should you add the one win in 2020-21 to the total? Yoninah (talk) 11:58, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: I corrected the numbers. Unfortunately there are typos in the media guide so the cumulative numbers they give for Peter Van Buskirk are not correct. They have a typo in the 2012-13 season, in which the team finished 16-6-3, but is recorded as 16-4-3. They also mis-count the total ties, which add up to 35. I have used the team's annual Schedule and results pages for sources for Jane Ford and Katie Lachapelle. I have used the induction notice for the Holy Cross Hall of Fame for Van Buskirk, which has the correct numbers. But if anyone looks at the media guide they will question the numbers. Is there a way to explain the discrepancies? Should I post that on the talk page? Or just leave it as is?PMCH2 (talk) 02:37, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok it's late to be raising this, but I am a little uncomfortable with the team name, as this is going to be posted to a global audience. "Crusaders" is word with a lot of baggage. It's been bothering me a bit. Is it possible to drop the name, and use a modified link? If that means dropping to a single DYK nom, I would be ok with that.PMCH2 (talk) 03:15, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
  • for ALT0b or ALT0c. I have no opinion either way about the word "crusaders" myself, but I see your point. Storye book (talk) 10:32, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
  • for both articles and ALT0d. ALT0d has the same citation as the previous ALTs, and has already been approved above. Storye book (talk) 10:32, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Great. THank youPMCH2 (talk) 17:29, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
