  • I hate to have to say this, but @FunkyCanute: you've missed the window for nominating this article. It was created at 22:41, 6 October 2015 and nominated at 10:54, 14 October 2015; this makes the article 8 days old at nomination. As per For DYK purposes, a "new" article is no more than seven days old, the article is too old to qualify for a DYK. You would have had to have nominated it on or before 13 October.   • There might be some leeway for a fantastic article, but unfortunately the article isn't up to standard for a DYK even if it was within the time-limit. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:11, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
  • You say it isn't up to DYK standard. What other DYK guidelines does it fail? As far as I can see, it is merely a few hours late. Not a 'fantastic' article (however you define that) but I'd plead that it is rare to see much about human rights on the main page. FunkyCanute (talk) 08:40, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
  • To start there are six paragraphs with no references. I know this is an article created from from a public domain text but DYK requires inline citations. The hook itself does not have a citation. The article needs more links (to me it looks very bare). Some of the sentences are horribly long and unwieldy: eg "His parents left Jamaica in 1841 for British Guiana, and moved to London in 1848, where, after attending a private school, Fox Bourne entered London University in 1856, and joined classes at King's College and the City of London College.". The Death section, for example, contains not only information about his death and burial (as expected) but also his marriage, children and some additional works. I had started a full review with a tentative no until I saw that you were late submitting it. A 'fantastic article', as a mentioned above, would be one that satisfies all the DYK criteria and doesn't need any adjustments. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 11:58, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

  1. Six paragraphs with no references. Everything is referenced, although not everything has inline citations.
  2. DYK requires inline citations. It has two.
  3. Needs more links. This is not a DYK criterion but, in any case, every section has several links. Indeed, every paragraph has at least one.
  4. Some sentences are very long. True, but that is also not a DYK issue.
  5. Death section contains other personal details. Also true, also not a DYK issue, also trivial to fix.

  • May I draw your attention to this:
As Henry Fox Bourne is based almost entirely on his now public domain entry in the Dictionary of National Biography, the article doesn't qualify for DYK. I do agree he sounds like an interesting person, but unfortunately the article doesn't qualify (even if I did wave the time limit). Thank you for creating the article though, it is good to see a different side to colonial history. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 16:24, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
