Helene Bechstein edit

Created by The C of E (talk). Self-nominated at 17:35, 7 November 2017 (UTC).

  • Article created new by C of E on November 7. Long enough at 2309 characters. The single suggested hook sentence is inherently fascinating due to the contrast between its direct object, "table manners" and indirect object "Hitler". The hook is supported here and by various other sources which can be found by websearch. Quid-pro-quo is complete.
I may be looking in the wrong place, but I'm having trouble finding where the C. Bechstein history discusses a Jewish boycott in response to her comments. (Which is strange because the present tense in wiki article matches the present tense in this one—maybe something to correct.)
The auction site Invaluable is not the best of secondary sources and I wish another existed, but the facts are probably not wrong, and I don't think this situation should stand in the way of DYK approval.
I'm also a little unsure about Jewish Virtual Library—what is the scholarly background here?—and I think better sources, probably ones you already cite, would be available to support this claim (Bechsteins funded Hitler).
Well done and thank you for this interesting and important contribution. groupuscule (talk) 04:50, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
@Groupuscule: I have reworded the boycott line (I overlooked that it said musicians) and changed the JVL source. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 16:17, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. Just for my peace of mind, could you point me to the line in the Bechstein article you're using as reference? I saw mention of musicians avoiding Bechstein pianos after the war, but didn't find a part about HB's antisemitic comments (made at numerous events, presumably earlier) provoking this reaction. groupuscule (talk) 17:05, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
@Groupuscule: On page 10 where it says " her deep-rooted anti-Semitism prompts famous musicians to turn their backs on Bechstein". The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 17:22, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
Got it. Good to go! groupuscule (talk) 17:25, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
