HMG Heat and Waterproof Adhesive edit

  • ... that HMG Heat and Waterproof Adhesive was used to adhere the 100–200 fragments of the Pioneer helmet (pictured)? Source: Meadows 2004, p. 24: "The 18 or so pieces into which the cheekpiece was broken were individually removed and reassembled using "HMG" a cellulose nitrate based adhesive, reversible in acetone. ... The joints in the nosepiece ... were adhered with HMG. ... Areas of the main piece of the helmet ... were very fragile and badly fragmented. The many cracks present in these parts, were injected with HMG." And so on; HMG is continually mentioned in the account of the conservation.

  • Usernameunique, the article is new enough and does technically meet the length standard, but more than 500 characters of that is covered by a lengthy quotation that lowers the actual article content. The article is within policy regarding neutrality, sourcing and avoidance of close paraphrasing (though Earwing catches the direct quote and assigns a 48.5% "violation possible" status that appears to be acceptable). Both hooks are within length, properly sourced an interesting, though ALT1 may be a bit too obscure. My suggestion would be to add more details into the article about the use of the adhesive in the restoration described, as well as any other sourced details available about the adhesive to flesh out the article. The image is free, used in the article and renders well in the designated size. QPQ has been satisfied. Please ping me once the prose content of the article (excluding the lengthy quotation) has been expanded beyond the 1,500-character minimum. Alansohn (talk) 22:27, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Thanks, Alansohn. Took your advice, removing the quotation and expanding the description of the use of HMG on the Pioneer helmet. By my count the article is now at 1,732 characters. --Usernameunique (talk) 22:57, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
  • As expanded, the article is good to go. Alansohn (talk) 00:16, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
