Fractional currency

edit

50 cent note depicting Francis E. Spinner

  • ... that United States fractional paper currency was issued from 1862 to 1876 in 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, and 50 cent (pictured) banknote denominations?
  • alt1 ... that the smallest denomination of fractional paper currency was a 3 cent banknote (pictured), and a 50 cent note sold at auction in 2004 for $126,500?

5x expanded by Godot13 (talk). Self nominated at 00:35, 11 September 2013 (UTC).

  • Regrettably, the 5x expansion requirement is not based on bytes, but on prose characters. According to DYKcheck, the article had 2996 prose characters as of September 4, 2013, prior to the current expansion; after the expansion, the total is 5589 prose characters, not even a 2x expansion. The text within the tables does not count for DYK purposes, nor do image captions. Given the unlikelihood of adding over 14,000 prose characters to the article, I don't see how it can qualify for DYK. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:17, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
  • I am fairly new to DYK and was unaware that the text within tables does not count. This is unfortunate as the purpose of the expansion was to create a list-class article...-Godot13 (talk) 04:58, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
  • If you're aiming to make this article a Featured List, it is possible for the article to end up on the main page eventually, since Featured Lists are displayed there once a week. I'm sorry that DYK didn't work out this time: for regular lists, it's usually easiest to nominate new articles, or ones that were almost entirely tables, since the minimum 1500 prose characters is easier to achieve (though, as noted above, a 5x prose character expansion is needed for articles that are not new, but have been added to). I hope you'll try again with a future article. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:27, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Thanks... The goal is to go for Featured List. I'll be back ;-) Godot13 (talk) 05:51, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
