Ernest Gambier-Parry edit

General Gordon's Last Stand

Created by ACP2011 (talk). Self nominated at 15:18, 22 April 2013 (UTC).

  • Expanded within timeframe, interesting hook, good references. Looks good to go.
  • Review was not signed, and needs to be. Also, there's no mention of checking for close paraphrasing, which is one of the many checks that ought to be done before approval is given. Ditto the image: must be free and licensed. It looks like an excellent article, but the review needs to be completed. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:13, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
  • While we're waiting for the review to be completed, could someone advise me as to any changes that might need to be made to the licensing for the image? It appears that it was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in 2010 and has been used in several articles. The painting is from 1893 and the artist died in 1925. What would be the appropriate license if the current is not correct? Could I amend the existing uploaded image, or would I need to start from scratch? I apologize - I'm somewhat less than expert when it comes to images and Wikimedia Commons. Anne (talk) 15:35, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Hi Anne, it's fine to amend the licensing of the image that is already uploaded (in fact, if you were to reupload the image under a different name it would likely be deleted). As the artist died in 1925, {{PD-old-80}} (80 years since his death) is your best choice for the foreign license. Because the painting was released or published in 1893, and all works published before 1923 are PD in the US, you should also include {{PD-1923}}. PD-old-80 on its own would not be enough as the US has a copyright term of 90 years after the author's death. Hope I'm not being too confusing. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Crisco, I just went into the image to modify the license as you suggested, but it appears that you've already taken care of it. Thank you! Anne (talk) 14:57, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Needs a review. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:59, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
    • Everything seems fine. Moved into mainspace and timing is fine. I checked for close paraphrasing using Duplication detector and could not find any. Hook is allowable. Not BLP. I am AGFing on ref 8, which I cannot access. Image has correct license templates. --Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 22:35, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
