- Just a note from me... The hook has the results of the judges election as its source. While the source doesn't explicitly state that he was the first Finn to be elected, note that it states that it was the first election held and that he was the only Finn elected.Pi (Talk to me! ) 13:32, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

The article just barely meets the minimum length for DYK—by a whopping 2 characters! The date is fine, the article has no close paraphrasing concerns, is well-cited, with the exception of the fact for the main hook. I appreciate your note, but don't find it to be sufficient. The ALT1 hook is also problematic in my view. The piped wikilink "judges" is to the list of ICC judges and not a general page about judges or the types who qualify for such lofty positions. Also, it's just not very interesting, IMHO. The article subject is clearly notable and has some really interesting background, like involvement in Rwanda and other hotspots. Inclusion of these facts would improve the article and supply lots of material for better hooks. Marrante (talk) 23:51, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Okay, this is ready for re-review. I have expanded the article somewhat and it now stands at 1743 characters. The issue I was concerned about before has been addressed. The ref is the same, but now I have established the starting date of the ICC itself, so that "first election" is absolutely clear to anyone ignorant about the court. In addition, there is now a non-ICC ref there and I have expanded the ref descriptions and added access dates. There is still more than can be done with the article, but I don't have the time just now. This at least gets it ready for DYK and the nom will soon be a month old already.
