Edin Osmanović

edit

Created/expanded by Khanassassin (talk). Self nom at 19:14, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Date and length verified and the nominator does not have to review an article due to no previous DYK credits. Issues to fix:
  • The "vice-champion of the Slovenian Football Cup" part of the hook is unreferenced in the article. Also, please make it clear in the hook that he did not achieve this honour with HIT Gorica (it's misleading at the moment).
    •  Done The part is actually referenced, and he DID achieve all these honours with HIT Gorica (see below). :) --Khanassassin 13:56, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Please rephrase the hook so that it does not read as if Osmanović "played" in the UEFA Cup as a field player (he managed a team participating in the UEFA Cup).
    •  Done
  • Please remove the two images from the article, as they are clearly press photos and not own works of Wikipedians.
  • Please remove "Edin Osmanović CV/Resume." as a reference and use another source for the facts supported by this one or, alternatively, remove them (using a source published by the individual is a potential Wikipedia:Conflict of interest). Toдor Boжinov 09:55, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
    •  Done Since I can't find the right refs, I will (for now) remove the ref. --Khanassassin 13:56, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Hi! I'm the nominator. I'd just like to add Osmanović DID achieve that honour WITH HIT Gorica, so I don't see why to remove it... :) Another thing, the Slvenian Football Cup part is actually referenced: This is the ref --Khanassassin 13:49, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi! Now I noticed that the HIT Gorica cup 2nd place in 1999/00 had been only referenced in the Highlights section. I wonder why I didn't look there, I guess I assumed that it can't be missing from the body. Though this is not a requirement, I recommend adding it to the copy as well: it's an important fact.
I'm still not happy with the hook though: "managed some matches" just doesn't sound right. Try something like "... that with his team HIT Gorica, football manager Edin Osmanović (pictured) became the vice-champion of the Slovenian PrvaLiga and Slovenian Football Cup and participated in the UEFA Cup?".
If you can fix the hook and remove or replace the non-free image, I think I'll be able to verify the submission :) Toдor Boжinov 16:24, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! --Khanassassin 17:15, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
  • FINAL ISSUES:
    • The hook  Done
    • The image  Done

Wait a second. I'd like to add since I'm not a native English speaker, I mis-understood when you said that the image is made by press. I now relaize that I was wrong. I thought the word "pressed" meant also "scanned", since the photos are scanned by me. I personally took the photos myself, as I know Osmanović personally. I'm also a photographer by hobby. (Note: I was previously user:7aarazred on Commons). You can see the photo is scanned, just look at the edges of the pictures. Since I think having scanned photos on Wikipedia isn't a crime, I'll mark the issue done. I hope you know what I'm talking about, since I'm not a native English speaker, and I often do mistake when it comes to words. Funny, isn't it? :) --Khanassassin 18:45, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Funny Note: I thought the word "press" meant "scan" because when you put the picture/document into the scanner (whihc I have together with printer) you have to put it under the big cover thing on top and then "press" the cover down. Yup, that's what I meant with "problems with words"! Hehe :) --Khanassassin 18:51, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
I am normally very willing to assume good faith, but can you please rescan and reupload the two images as higher resolution (larger) versions to prove this? Excuse me for being suspicious and insistent, but I'm a graphic designer by trade and I know a thing or two about scanning. And while it's clear that these were both taken with a film camera, the resolution is susipiciously low for a scan and the narrow lines along the edges are too regular to be an artifact of scanning. It is a DYK rule that images have to be free of copyright beyond doubt. Thanks! Toдor Boжinov 19:22, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Sure, but I have to find the picture first. It might take a while to find them. I will probably be able to find the picture of Osmanović, but not of Osmanović/Mudrinić. Well, I'll try to find it right now, if I don't find it (whichI probably will), I will remove the picture or replace it with another picture of Osmanović. That's alright, isn't it? :) --Khanassassin 19:33, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Note: Just found Osmanović's picture; sadly, I couldn't find the picture of him and Mudrinic. About to scan :) --Khanassassin 19:46, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
This is the higher quality picture:

Just scanned it, looks better, because it is much higher quality + removed edges... is it good now? --Khanassassin 21:00, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Note: The old picture has been removed from Commons, because I nominated it for deletion, since there's no need for it, because of this new version. :) --Khanassassin 17:54, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
Just scanned it? Usually it's best to upload whatever comes out of your camera's memory card, with maybe some simple cropping and minor colour/brightness corrections. --PFHLai (talk) 18:27, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
This picture is from 2000, might I add. --Khanassassin 18:34, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
On film? Please put 2000 date, place, etc. on File:EdinOsmanovic.jpg#Summary. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 19:05, 19 February 2012 (UTC) [Not a DYK requirement, BTW. --PFHLai (talk) 19:11, 19 February 2012 (UTC)]
Yes I added. :) --Khanassassin 19:12, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

With the removal of the two images for which I had copyright doubts, I can now verify this nomination, assuming good faith on the referencing. Toдor Boжinov 19:47, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
