The article was expanded sufficiently and within two days of nomination. The article is very well sourced, including the hook. I removed one image but only because I found it irrelevant; the copyright status of all images is clear. As far as I could see, there is no close paraphrasing. In fact, one of the biographies is written in such an unusual manner that it could not have possibly been plagiarised. The hook also meets the length and other criteria, but I would like to suggest "hookier" alternatives:

ALT1: ... that Beatriz de la Cueva, the first female colonial governor in the New World, died in a September 11 disaster two days after taking office?
ALT2: ... that Beatriz de la Cueva, the first female colonial governor in the New World, died when a volcano lake swept away her stone palace two days after she took office?

@Surtsicna: Either of these is fine by me. Thanks for the review. I undid one of your edits to the article, since "Native American" refers only to the indigenous inhabitants of the United States, and does not apply to Guatemala. Note that the term "Indian" is commonly used in Latin American articles, including a couple that I took through FA, and is also used in academic sources. Thanks for that information. I find it... peculiar, to say the least. Anyway, I nominate ALT1, but it will have to be approved by a third editor. The article itself is fully reviewed. I am looking forward to seeing more DYK nominations like this one.

Often the word "Indigenous" can be substituted, but in this case would be misleading, since many of those who died would not be indigenous to Guatemala, but would have been Nahua allies of the conquistadors who came with them from central Mexico. Simon Burchell (talk) 09:25, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
