The UMG warehouse burns in 2008

... that The New York Times Magazine recently reported that, contrary to the claims of studio executives, the 2008 Universal fire (pictured) destroyed thousands of irreplaceable analog audio master tapes? Source: "The New York Times reported that 'a vault full of video and television images' had burned up, but added that 'in no case was the destroyed material the only copy of a work,' a claim attributed to Universal Studios officials." The New York Times, June 12; "UMG's accounting of its losses, detailed in a March 2009 document marked 'CONFIDENTIAL,' put the number of 'assets destroyed' at 118,230. Randy Aronson considers that estimate low: The real number, he surmises, was 'in the 175,000 range.'

Both hooks verified and within specs. Article newness, length, and overall policy compliance verified. QPQ done by nom and picture is under a free licence. Two issues: The passage: "Fourteen firefighters and three Los Angeles County sheriffs' deputies sustained minor injuries. The fire was put out after 12 hours, during which time firefighters encountered low water pressure." is unsourced. Also ...dating back to the 1920s, including the films “Knocked Up” and “Atonement” is too close to the NYT article phraseology. Dr. K. 16:56, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Good to go. Thank you Daniel. There is one thing remaining: "The fire was put out after 12 hours" is not covered by the citation provided. But that's a minor quibble and I will not hold the DYK pass based on that. I also know you will fix it. Dr. K. 10:41, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
