This utility template can be used to create standardized links to a given American football position. The template accepts a wide variety of possible inputs and outputs a set of uniform links.
It generates links for all of the following positions:

Parameters edit
The template has one required and one optional parameter. The required parameter is the position (or position abbreviation). The optional parameter is the word "long" which will create a more verbose link. If the "long" parameter is not included, a 1–3 letter abbreviation will be returned.
Examples edit
{{American football position|Quarterback}}, {{American football position</nowiki>|qb}} and {{American football position|quarter back}} will all generate the following link: QB.
{{American football position|quarterback|long}} will generate: Quarterback
