The Municipality of Tehran is the city runner for Iranian capital city alongside Islamic City Council of Tehran. There are 22 districts managed by regional municipals. The city has 67 thousand administrative employees. The municipality owns Hamshahri.[1][2][3]

In 2024 June the city imported 1000 Chinese electric cars as Taxis, they cost 50% more.[4][5]

Corruption

In 2024 the city's mayor and 2024 presidential nominee Alireza Zakani came under pressure to resign by a public media campaign after his various abuses of municipal functions including ordering a large number of trees to be cut down.[6][7]

In February 2024 a street cleaner was killed while working, Etemad released a report which said the municipality had not insured the worker.[8]
