Should have this one to you within a day or two Jaguar 23:00, 5 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Initial comments edit

  • The first paragraph of the lead needs to be expanded to summarise the article and comply per WP:LEAD. It should typically include some of its history!
  • The architecture part of the lead could be expanded in order to summairse the article better
  • I've expanded the lead - is this enough for this short article?— Rod talk 21:02, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Nearby was an older cross known as the Butter Cross" - isn't the Butter Cross still there? It doesn't mention that it was moved to the village outskirts
  • "The octagonal building, which is 9.4 metres (31 ft)" - I think imperial comes first, per most English GAs, but feel free to ignore!
  • My reading is that as long as it is internally consistent either order can be used. In this case the source gives metric, and as there are no other measurements in the article I have gone with this.— Rod talk 21:02, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Following the damage, it was restored in 1647 to its present condition. by Francis Luttrell" - typo
  • "After the Norman conquest of England in the 11th century, William de Mohun constructed a timber castle" - can William de Mohun be linked or explained who he is?

References edit

  • According to the toolserver it appears that Ref 11 is broken, but this could just be where a subscription is required?
  • It works for me, but if you don't have a subscription I think you have 3 free articles & then have to sign up.— Rod talk 21:02, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

On hold edit

Sorry this took so long - I've been having more time off Wikipedia lately. Overall this is a compact article which I suppose is as comprehensive as can be for this subject! The only problem I could find with it is the length of the lead section. The prose should be mostly fine for GA, but I've changed part of a sentence in the History section if that's OK. If all of the above can be addressed then this should have no problem passing the GAN. I'll leave this on hold for the standard seven days   Jaguar 19:15, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments. It is compact simply because I can't find anything else to include.— Rod talk 21:02, 8 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Close - promoted edit

Thank you for the improvements made! The lead now summairses the article and the rest of the prose is up to a GA standard. I agree regarding the metric/imperial layout - it shouldn't really matter. Anyway looks like another Somerset GA, and I think I've been to this place back in 2010.   Jaguar 13:55, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
