"Monday and the Soviets' Elmandi Jabrailov were both assessed three cautions and disqualified from their gold-medal match. That result condemned the American to a bronze and allowed the Soviet to wrestle again against Turkey's Sebhattin Ozturk for the gold medal, which he won."

Joe Melchiore (born in 1966) is an American freestyle wrestler and wrestling coach.

 Highlight achievements
  • 1990 US National Champion, 57 kilogram.

Joe Melchiore defeated the 1989 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship's winner Kendall Cross.

  • 1986 Big 8 Conference Champion, 48 kilogram.

Joe Melchiore defeated Perry Summit 10-9.

  • 1983 World Junior Champion, 56 kilogram.
