Water tower, water supply source, Hobb's Mill
editI have no details, but have been told that ever since the water tower was built in Wilsons, Virginia that the water came from a mill pond, Hobb's Mill Pond, at least three miles away. I have been told that the water was piped to the water tower via a pump. I am curious about the pump. How did it operate? What about the piping? Also, I am told, but haven't actually went to look in person, that the pump house was built of brick and is still standing near the mill. If you might know an old-timer who remembers how this was done, please talk with him/her and post their story here. I think this information is interesting and should be preserved. Can anyone help?
