Harry Partch as Modernist
editI would agree that all these composers listed are experimental, and share many characteristics, but my understanding of modernism would not include Partch. When one compares the description of modernism to Partch's aesthetic, it does not line up. Partch was concerned with resurrecting ancient forms and styles, and making the experience of music as something that is physical, real, or in his own words "corporeal." He also often railed against the abstract in music. Is the statement that Partch is an "ultramodernist" taken from the Mina Yang article? Composerjude (talk) 17:55, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
