Talk:Voluntary Emission Reduction

COI Author edit

The article has a lot of inaccuracies and is lacking details of the market. I could change that easily, but have a COI as I´m working in the field (part time for a company & part time for a research institution).

Would appreciate if somebody could volunteer to double check my edits

In case I don´t get any reply over the next month, I´ll start editing and do my best to stick to the NPV policy.

Actually, the links mostly go to commercial companies - and were probably added by authors with COI who didn´t disclose...

Suggested Improvements edit

"'Voluntary Emissions Reductions (VERs) are carbon credits developed by carbon offset providers which are not certified." This sentence is heavily missleading. It is true that carbon offset providers are not certified - CDM offset providers aren´t either. But is is wrong that the VERs are not certified - More than 90% of the VERs in the market are certified & thrid party validated according to a third party standard. Spello in the Title: It say: "Volunary EmissionS reduction", S should be removed. Actually there should be another article called "Verified Emission Reduction" - This is the term VER normally stands for & most widely used in the market. This article should be renamed "Verified Emission Reduction" + a link form "Voluntary Emission Reduction" to this page. See also links for the abbreviation VER in the English Wikipedia.

Links to Standards: There should be links to the "Voluntary Carbon Standard" the "Climate Action Reserve", and the "CDM Gold Standard" at least.
