early versions of "viral" marketing, prior to coined term, should be mentioned??
Hotel matchbooks and pens were the earliest forms. Then roadside billboards that numbered in the multiple dozens w/ conversations, questions, jokes, etc? Viral marketing is any marketing that creates buzz for the brand, but isn't limited to online, by definition? I recently added to the Social Networking heading and updated it with current information on how viral marketing is used in the landscape of Social Media.
