Talk:Vane–vain–vein mergers
Pane/pain section
editThis needs some work: much of it is clearly copied (without acknowledgement) from http://www.norfolkdialect.com/trudgill.html (cited on the toe-tow merger page).
I would suggest merging it with toe-tow merger under Wells's name "Long mid mergers": they have a lot in common both historically and in terms of the present-day distribution of the distinctions (though the T/T distinction seems to be considerably healthier in Norfolk than the P/P one), and this would get rid of a couple of neologisms in favour of established names.
Rein/rain section
editCan someone point me to a clear source that states that the distinction described ever existed? Most of this section seems to be given over to a joke about Australian English, which didn't even exist when this distinction was supposedly made. --JHJ 12:02, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
