Championship locations and dates
editThe VEX Championship was recently added to List of attractions and events in the Louisville metropolitan area. I have verified this is as correct. However, it would be very helpful if cited content was added to this article about the locations and dates of the championship. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 16:11, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Just added a citation to the VEX robotics website which states this information. Also added citations in multiple other locations in the article that were in need. DataManiac18 (talk) 23:33, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Proposed deletion
editTip: when searching in Google Scholar, type in the quotes around "vex robotics competition" to get more specific results. There is a great deal of scholarly work on using VEX Robotics Competitions for pedagogy. I've added one such reference. Enough others exist that deletion, even through regular AfD, cannot be justified, even though the article clearly needs more work: WP:NOTCLEANUP, WP:DINC. There is plenty of coverage in the popular press as well, if you look past the first page of search results in regular Google.
What does “VEX” stand for?
editThe article uses “VEX” many times but doesn’t explain the origin of that name. Is it an acronym, and if so, for what? Or just a made-up word? Or is it the English word “vex” (annoy), and if so, why was that name chosen? -- pne (talk) 11:44, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- In informal statements, the company has said that "VEX" has no special meaning -- it was just adopted as a unique name. The word "vex" can mean to puzzle or challenge, so that may be some meaningings that the company wanted to associate with their brand name. WmLawson (talk) 01:04, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
