Publications relating to the village/town of Upton edit

This section of the article does not seem to be encyclopedic content (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not), it doesn't provide any references and it sounds like an advertisement for the publications given. I think the section should be deleted unless anybody has any objections. BarretBonden (talk) 13:22, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Improvement suggestion: more history edit

This article could make brief reference to more aspects of the town's history, given suitable sources. Here are some ideas. I may one day have time to add these myself, so this is partly a "note to self" and partly a suggestion for other editors:

  • Wartime history (Americans? Where did they stay? What role did the town play in the broader War effort?)
  • The clay works and railway
  • Housing built by BDH and others
  • More dates of establishment for buildings and organisations mentioned in article
  • Bypass construction date and impact, the Turbary Trust (this topic may not be notable enough for an article about the town -- apply judgement after gathering required information).
  • Establishment and re-establishment of the Upton Carnival
  • Is it at all worth mentioning that the town was on the route of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay? (Given that the route of the relay was designed to pass near almost all of the UK population, probably not, unless something unusually notable occurred on the day.)
