Meaning of "masthead"? edit

Can someone who has worked on this page please explain what the word "masthead" means? It is used twice in the article but I am not sure if it's used like "impressum" or what it means? I was told about "masthead documents" (in the UN system) but don't know what that is either. Can someone please explain this and then we can make it clearer in this article? Thanks.
