Uncanny X-Men edits on 20 February 2009

edit

User:152.91.9.153 (talk) appears to have made three edits on 20 February 2009 to the Uncanny X-Men article. The last of these edits contained an edit summary stating Neither source supports the claim that the band released a song called "Children". It does not appear on their albums and I have no memory of it.

One consequence of these edits was to delete information about the single "Children".

One of the refs is Ian McFarlane's encyclopedia entry on Uncanny X-Men, under the sub-heading of History in the third paragraph, third sentence he states:

"Uncanny X-Men signed a new deal with CBS which resulted in the album What You Give is What You Get! (#11, November 1986) and the singles `I Am'/`Treat Me Nice', `Children' (#10 in May), `Don't Wake Me'/`Truckin' on into Alice' (September), `Nothing Touches My World'/`Playing the Titanic' (January 1987) and `Start Believing'/`Sullivans' (June)."

I read this to mean that the second single is given as "Children" with its position as #10 in May.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:59, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Further searching has shown that "I Am" was a 3-track single/EP with "Treat Me Nice" and "(Kill the) Children" as its two B-sides. McFarlane's website copy has a typo with a , used instead of a / between 'Treat Me Nice' and 'Children'. See Musicstack, Rate Your Music, Books & Collectibles and Uncanny X Men fansite for references. I have changed the article to indicate the single as being "I Am" with Kent verifying a position of #18 not McFarlane's #10.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:16, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

vs. Marvel's Uncanny X-Men

edit

i'm curious if the band deliberately named themselves after the X-Men from Marvel Comics (otherwise, where did the name of the band come from?), and if the band is named after the superheroes, have there been any legal issues? and if there haven't been any legal issues, how does the band get away with calling themselves what they do?
