Talk:USS Austin (1839)

Merge proposal

I propose the merger of this article with Texan sloop-of-war Austin for the following reasons:

1. The Texan sloop-of-war article is very close to a B-class article and could use the graphic from this article to complete the supplemental material to increase its quality rating to a B.

2. The ship in question spent very little time (2 years) as the USS Austin with no notable service (notability and overlap). It is highly unlikely any additional material will be added for this 2 year period when the ship was waiting to be broken up.

3. Most of the information in this article is already in the Texas sloop-of-war article (content). Not much merging needed.

I recommend making the USS Austin (1839) a redirect to the Texan sloop-of-war article after merger is complete.
