Notability

This article (along with other the articles in its series) does not strike me as being particularly noteworthy. I have already proposed fifth grade for deletion, and will most likely propose this one for deletion as well should the deletion of fifth grade go through. In my opinion, these articles would be better dealt with in articles covering primary and secondary education throughout the world. Ekips (talk) 23:26, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Ireland

Information about Ireland is wrong. 4th year of secondary school is an optional year - also called transition year. Senior cycle 5th and 6th year are the last 2 years and prepare students for the Leaving Certificate examinations at the end of 6th year - Final year = 6th year. (usually students are aged 17/18 doing these exams - but this varies depending on whether ot not they have done 4th year, and atwhat age they started school)213.94.229.173 (talk) 11:16, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

France

The French section is a bit muddled. I'm not sure if it's vandalism or someone with a poor grasp of English tried to edit it. --MicahBrwn (talk) 13:56, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Brazil

There isn't a 12th grade in Brazil, unless you are in a vocational school. The "Ensino Fundamental" goes from 1st to 8th grade and then there is the "Ensino Médio", with 3 grades. In vocational schools (Ensino Médio Profissionalizante), where students get instruction for a specific career (agriculture, IT, electronics, accountancy, surveying, telecommunications. etc.), there can be a 12th and even a 13th grade, but most students will go to regular schools, finishing their secondary education by the 11th grade. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.35.211.204 (talk) 14:55, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

That is no longer the case. Ensino Fundamental (Basic School) now goes from 1st to 9th grade in Brazil. Then, there are three additional years of "secondary school" (ensino médio), which would be equivalent to the 10th, 11th and 12th grades in other countries.161.24.19.112 (talk) 16:36, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Year Twelve

Much of the content about the specific countries is already covered in the twelfth grade article. There is no reason why they should be separate, even if they have a separate name. "Year 12" is mentioned in the twelfth grade article and that is a more complete article. For not all the countries in the "twelfth grade" article are called "twelfth grade" either.- CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 02:57, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

The problem with this confusing merge is that the most common use of "Year twelve" does not correspond with the most common use of "Twelfth grade". It would be better to redirect each number to a general article where the system is explained. Dbfirs 07:12, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Please don't merge these articles. This article is already a bizarre mix of different school years from different systems that roughly correspond to 12th Grade in the United States. Really these pages should be separated by country/education system, and if anything one article could cover all the years of a single educational system, with one article per system. "Year 12" is not even equivalent to 12th Grade in the systems I'm familiar with. RitKill (talk) 19:47, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

Rename

Seesm to me this article wants renaming. I'm not sure to what, but just look at the text; the majority of it relates to "not twelfth grade" in that the subject - final year at secondary school - has many different names. 86.29.245.109 (talk) 21:39, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

This is still an unresolved issue. Miyo0i (talk) 05:41, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
