Talk:Torque vectoring

I added the stub tag. I think this article contains a lot of incorrect information and definitions on torque vectoring, while it is missing depth. For instance front rear torque distribution in all wheel drive vehicles is not related to torque vectoring, but still is discussed in this article. When I have more time, I would like to rewrite it. What is the difference between Active Yaw Control and Torque vectoring?--Arado (talk) 12:08, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

merge proposal edit

Yes, AYC is just a tradename for torque vectoring Greglocock (talk) 22:25, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Specific examples edit

I am not sure the shopping list of near identical systems as described really adds much to the article. I'd agree that examples with unusual capabilities should be included, but 'manufacturer X has a torque vectoring system called Y that adjusts the torque split on rear axle using accelerometers, yaw velocity sensors, steering wheel angle (etc) to improve stability and performance' for 15 different values of X and Y seems to me to add nothing useful to the article. Lots of handwaving edit

I came here to look up the basic design concept of a torque vectoring differential but was disappointed.

The explanation given (and repeated multiple times) is basically (I'm paraphrasing) "A differential is purely mechanical, so it needs a microcontroller". This doesn't explain anything - specifically: How does that microcontroller's output signal result in different forces acting on each wheel? What's the actuator, what kind of mechanical arrangement is doing the actual force distribution?

Agree with the previous poster that trying to list the differences between different manufacturers' solutions/brand names without explaining the basics is a futile exercise. 93.162.109.131 (talk) 20:48, 28 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
