I'll take this one, it looks interesting. Comments:

  • Lots of red links here. Not a demand on my part, but I suggest that either they are cut down or, hopefully, they turn blue in the near future.
  • In January 1944,The Honolulu Advertiser reported that she was "being urged" to run for Territorial Senate as a Republican Link Republican.
  • Aside from her victory, any information on her campaign worthy of inclusion? How many votes she got?
  • No need to repeatedly write "David Y. K. Akana" after his first mention in the body of the article.
  • Is it known where she was buried?

Indy beetle, thank you so much for pinking up this review!
  • I've removed the redlinks which might not be notable, and if I have time in the near future I'll work on making at least a stub for each of the remaining ones.
  • Linked Republican as suggested
  • Added some information about her campaign, including number of votes
  • Trimmed instances of "David Y. K. Akana" to "Senator Akana" after first mention in body
  • I haven't been able to find a source for where she was buried, but I'll keep trying!

Source spotchecks:

  • "Mrs. Thelma Akana Announces Her Candidacy For Senate From Oahu". Honolulu Star-Bulletin. - All good here
  • "Succeeds Husband". Hawaii Tribune-Herald. - Good
  • Hill, Virginia Bennett (November 8, 1944). "Two Oahu Senate Seats Go To GOP". Hawaii Tribune-Herald. - Good

The sources seem to check out and, noting my satisfaction with the responses posted above, I'm passing the article. Good work. -Indy beetle (talk) 02:54, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
