Methodology

The last sentence of the Methodology paragraph states that "Dictators and royalty are always excluded", yet there is a Saudi prince on the list in 2000-01 and 2003-06. Should that possibly be changed to "Royal families and dictators are excluded"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C1:A683:B600:C431:55B6:F962:A799 (talk) 12:36, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Presumably, this is to make a distinction between state wealth contingent on a position and the wealth of the individual. Many of the Saudi princes have individual holding companies that are massive constructs and "separate" from the state. This differs from, say, Kim Jong-un - his wealth is mostly state-based, and likely impossible to assess. I'm just guessing and will have to dig into the various methodology articles they put out every now and then to get a real answer. Kuru (talk) 15:48, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
They are also just estimates, and people have managed to fool Forbes for 13 years[1]. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 15:54, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Oh, man, don't get me started. This is all pageantry vs. an actual accounting exercise. Kuru (talk) 16:40, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Table showing top 5 or something

Like Jeff Bezos#Wealth. Good plan? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:14, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

I'd be happy to organize the data with delimiters and all that. Just give me instructions. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:32, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Just to be clear, are you suggesting something like your graph File:Jeff Bezos - wealth chart.png (presumably with five lines) or like the table on the top left of the section. -- ToE 21:44, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi ToE. Maybe not like that. I'm thinking maybe colours? Maybe....bars...?...I have no clue -- just something that shows progression over years and heights and that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:13, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Real Time Ranking

Why don't we add a column to show real time ranking? According to that list changes as Jeff is the richest person. I think its important. Nauriya (talk) 21:11, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Good idea use this as source https://www.bloomberg.com/billionaires 2.90.210.75 (talk) 08:40, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

"while China is catching up with 476 (when including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)." Please provide reference for this statement — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chickenhero (talkcontribs) 13:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

It's covered in the ref given for the paragraph; I've replicated the inline ref so you can find it easier. Kuru (talk) 22:17, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Updated net worth

Forbes reported on 190109 that Jeff Bezos worth is 137.1 million. (Until the divorce.) Pharasyn (talk) 04:30, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Correction needed

2011 list:

Mark Zuckerberg was one of seven Facebook-related billionaires on the list, as he $9.5 billion to his fortune to move up to 52nd. Clearly, it needs a review. I suggest he added $9.5 billion to his net worth, or he increased his net worth by $9.5 billion.

Thanks; corrected with the first suggestion. That was a five-year-old typo! Kuru (talk) 00:39, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Recent edit removed most of the content

A recent edit removed most of the content of this article, leaving only the "2018" section. Was this intentional? Or should we repair it? ACW (talk) 17:59, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Inaccuracy on Kylie Jenner being reported as a "self-made billionaire"

This should be removed as she does not fit any definition of "self-made"

For reference:

adjective having succeeded in life unaided: He is a self-made man. made by oneself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J start604 (talkcontribs) 12:36, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

Royalty and dictators billionaires list

Are there any informations or lists about that?

Update

I think we need to create a new ranking for 2020 since their wealth has changed since thenBigRed606 (talk) 21:31, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Carlos Slim

Where is Carlos Slim on the 2020 list? It does not add up that he not reached the top-10.--Wester (talk) 20:02, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

He is on the 2020 list, just at 12. There are several links in the article. I'm sure Forbes has a contact e-mail and would be eager to work with you. Kuru (talk) 20:18, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Jim Walton and Mark Zuckerberg’s ages should be correceted, 72 and 36 respectively. Mcsaeid (talk) 15:39, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

The material reflects their ages at the time the list was published. Kuru (talk) 16:11, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

In the annual ranking section of 2020 change which is needed is that data is compared with 2019 ranking but the year which is mentioned is 2018 like number of billionaires in 2020 were 2095 and in 2019 were 2153 and same goes with total wealth which is compared with 2019 but year mentioned is 2018.

Change which needed is 2018 to 2019 in annual ranking section of 2020

I hope I'm clear. Piyushkwiki (talk) 12:43, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Add Mukesh Ambani to the list of the richest, at number 4. His net worth is around $77.8 Billion in 2020. 2600:6C5A:487F:EB94:2177:CABE:32E1:4F04 (talk) 01:35, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

This is an annual Forbes publication; at the time this was released in March, he was #21 with $36.8b. He's currently #6 with $75.3b, which is incredible - I'm sure he will be on the list next March for the 2021 publication. Kuru (talk) 01:46, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Mukesh Ambani

Why is ambani not in the list? Like he is 7th mist richest person in the WORLD!!! Anyone and (talk) 00:20, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

See the conversation above. Kuru (talk) 04:23, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Can we clean up the introduction?

Specifically the last paragraph includes something from Oxfam which while interesting isn't really relevant to the Forbes ranking. Can we move it to the statistics section or delete it from the introduction?

The list of billionares has changed in wealth. It's not the correct numbers. Jones355 (talk) 14:42, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Change 'Richest person in the world' to 'Elon Musk' with a net worth of $189.7 Billion dollars as of Jan 6, 2021.

Elon musk is now the richest man

We should change Jeff Bezos to Elon musk as the richest man because he recently surpassed Jeff Bezos as the wealthiest. Laryanx456 (talk) 15:49, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
