Sales and certifications

Please do not change the sales and certifications unless you can provide a reliable source for the new data. Thanks. -- Underneath-it-All 03:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Someone messed around with the album charts. The guy edited it, placed number 1s just about almost all of the countries. I Reverted UK, US and ARIA charts. I have no idea what are the other ones he changed. HalfCrazy (talk) 17:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Was "Sway" released commercially?

Website www.gemm.com lists only US PROMO copies of "Sway" as a 1-track CD single or as a 7" vinyl single or a DVD promo. If it was never released commercially in any format then the discography should reflect that.--Design (talk)

Boldfacing of #1's

Please do not boldface the #1's in the singles section. This violates wikipedia's policy regarding Neutral point of view. Please see Wikipedia:Record charts for more information. Thank you. JayJ47 (talk) 23:27, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

This is becoming extremely annoying

For months, the pussycat dolls song pages and their discography has been the same. The charts on the pages were all accurate and there were lots of them. The discography page had more countries listed. Now all these new members make it their business to march in and cite every source so now theres a citation next to every single chart position and its ridiculous! it looks like crap! things were fine before and i dont know who suddenly made you in charge and you just march in and start deleting all these charts because you feel that they are redundant or insignifant. some of your points are definitely valid but whats up with you ordering other members around and telling them what's right and whats wrong? its not cool, it shouldnt be just the way you think it should be!

and also why is us dance club play on the discography page? that is NOT a significant chart AT ALL. you keep that but not the united world chart or europe chart???????

Yeahboyyy (talk) 19:36, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I thought Ericorbit's vandalism warning was a hair over the edge, but only a hair. You have been persistently reverting changes to the article when those changes were intended to bring the article up to the standards mandated in WP:V. Neither Ericorbit nor I is what you could reasonably call a "new member". He's an admin, and I have over 10,000 edits under my belt. People just recently noticed how bad the PCD articles had become, and decided it was time to bring them up to standard. Feel free to help.
As for Dance Club Play, I wouldn't have it, but there hasn't been a consensus to kill it off that I'm aware of. Hot Dance Airplay is a component chart, so it doesn't usually get listed, but Club Play can be. No one is trying to delist charts because they aren't important ... just when they are redundant or unreliable. If you want to remove Dance Club Play, I won't put it back.Kww (talk) 19:45, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
These charts are not official - questionable and not legitimate. Articles deleted:
By the way, citing sources is more important than looking pretty. This is an encyclopedia, not a Pussycat Dolls fan page. The warning given to Yeahboyy was a third tier warning. Looking at his talk page shows a good number of warnings already in only the last couple of days. Thanks - eo (talk) 19:50, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Please help me fix this!

Someone pretty much destroyed the singles charts section. I've been trying to fix it but it really isn't working out. could someone please help? Yeahboyyy (talk) 18:06, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I'll help you fix it. However it'll take some time though. JayJ47 (talk) 21:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I just tried but somebody has really messed up the table. I'm sorry man I tried, but I can't fix it. JayJ47 (talk) 22:06, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

What on earth?

Whatchat thin about that isn't a real single. It's a promo, so it should be down on other scharted singles like Hush Hush. Bottle Pop is next real single so it stays in that table... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.106.97.45 (talk) 11:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, Whatcha Think About That is the new single for UK while Bottle Pop for the US. --HalfCrazy (talk) 08:37, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

When is a single not a single?

Is there a Wikipedia policy on the definition of a "Single"? I ask this because both "Right Now" and "Top of the World" have been released for purchase via download (with artwork?). Neither is released on a Dolls' album. Neither can be called a "Promo" only, since the public can buy them; yet currently the Dolls' info box, and the articles about these two songs describe them as either "Promo" singles, or not an "official" single. There seems to be a discrepancy here. Maybe Interscope is testing the public's demand for these songs, and if demand was high, then a physical CD single might be released, but surely that does not change the fact that these tracks can be purchased via commercial download, thus making them both "official" releases and "singles", yes? --Design (talk) 08:39, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Now we have a disagreement over whether "Jai Ho" is a "promo" or not. See above paragraph.--Design (talk) 12:01, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
    • I have placed "Top of the world" under singles. It is available for commercial download with its own cover art.--Design (talk) 07:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
  • I have reinstated "Top of the World". Anon user(s) keep deleting, without discussion here.--Design (talk) 04:53, 29 March 2009 (UTC).
  • "Top of the World" charted higher on the Bilboard Hot 100 than both "I Don't Need a Man" and "Whatcha Think About That".--Design (talk) 05:04, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
  • I have just reverted again. Reasons why "Top of the world" may be classified as a single:

1. It was released to the public to purchase, not a free download. 2. The release in February 2009 predated any inclusion on an album. 3. I believe the release had its own cover art. 4. Just because it wasn't given a promotional push to radio, and has no video, and was not released as a physical CD, does not negate points 1-3. While this lack of push may seem unusual in regard to the Dolls discography, it is not unusual compared with Nicole Scherzinger's solo single releases on parent label Interscope. --Design (talk) 05:42, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

  • I have added "Right Now (NBA Version)" to singles with a ref from the Billboard website showing it was an official digital download release in January 2007. This was not 'promotional only' but a commercial download to the general public in the US (and Canada?). It also qualifies as a single because it is not the album version. Just because it didin't chart doesn't make it NOT a single! Interestingly it was there only single release in 2007.--Design (talk) 09:17, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
    • I have reinstated "Right Now", it was deleted with no discussion here.--Design (talk) 08:22, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
    • I have reinstated "Right Now" again. Let me ask you, if you disagree with Billboard and think that download only releases do not count as a legitimate releases, then why aren't you deleting the live EP Session@AOL currently listed in this discopgraphy? Do you only have a 'blind spot' for download singles?--Design (talk)
    • Reinstated "Right Now" again. Anon user keeps deleting despite Billboard reference.--Design (talk) 20:35, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

User:Koalamisiek has deleted sourced data for "Right Now" and "Top of the World" with no discussion here. I will revert when I have time.--Design (talk) 23:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

  • I have reinstated again, after deltion from an anon. user--Design (talk) 23:47, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
  • The purpose of the singles section is to list the Main singles, i.e. the singles with a full video, promotion and release. Both "Right Now" and "Top Of the world" had only a digital release without the proper blitz a single usually gets. It is ridiculous to say that a song is a single because it was made officially available. If that was true than many artists will have a bunch of singles considering how many remixes, b-sides and exclusive songs have been put up for purchase on digital stores. Until the Pussycat Dolls claim that this song is an official single then it will be removed. Also, justifying it based on Nicole's solo career is unfair considering her own label claims her debut single "Whatever U Like" was a "Club Single" only and not a main single. Thus they cancel out your points themselves. Cazxiro (talk) 20:34, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
  • "top of the world" and "right now" should be listed as promotional/other releases in a seperate table. the main section is reserved for FULL single releases. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 21:04, 11 April 2009 (UTC))
    • Regarding the above two comments: I think that if you list them separately this is not NPOV. I also think that labelling them "Main" singles of "Full" singles is POV, and possibly more in line with a record company's POV, not NPOV. I think the data in it's current form is clear i.e. that these two singles were download only to US & Canada. We could look at mediation on this, or look at Wikipedia policy on discographies. We should always endeavour to separate record company POV from actuality, if the two diverge.--Design (talk) 10:17, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Edit wars and errors

  • We are back to the same old edit wars. This discography has a number of errors:

1.If "Sway" was released as more than a promo, we need a citation of it's commercial release. It is currently listed in this article as a 'single' 2."Right Now (NBA version)" and "Top of the world" were released commercially in Nth America via download as per previously cited Billbaord reference (see discussion above under "when is a single not a single?' re NPOV. They should be listed under 'singles', even without a physical CD. 3.Doll Domination: The Mini Collection should possibly be classified as an EP and not placed in the album chronology of the info box. 4. We need to either have a vote, to arrive at consensus, or have mediation, or some policy decison as to what on Wikipedia is defined as a "promo" single and what is not, with a NPOV. My views are listed above under "when is a single not a single'.--Design (talk) 11:54, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Bolding of chart positions

I have just reverted all the chart positions in bold text back to standard text. WP:CHARTS says the following.. , "Within the table, no peak positions should be boldfaced, as this violates Wikipedia's policy regarding neutral point of view and breaches WP:MOSBOLD". 12bigbrother12 17:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Picture

The picture at the top of the page is older than dirt! carmit is in it and melody isn't. i don't really know how to change images, but could someone else possibly do it? some goes for the pussycat dolls main page. thanks! 71.238.193.127 (talk) 23:41, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Pop 100 Peaks

Due to the recent discontinuation of the Billboard Pop 100, should we remove those peak positions from the table as hush hush will forever remain at a peak of #54 and all upcoming songs will have blanks there? Or should we possibly change it from Pop 100 peaks to Top 40 Mainstream peaks, because Billboard said that chart would replace the Pop 100 in the article announcing the change?

Yeahboyyy (talk) 14:50, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

the singles table should only include the billboard hot 100. i really dont understand the fascination with adding lots of different american charts. other countries only have 1 chart included, why should america have others included Mister sparky (talk) 17:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
