The etymology from thanjan+asura sounds very contrived. This much is clear - the correct dissection is: thanchai+oor. Does anyone have more (and more concrete) details? -- I had say the same too.. It seems too obvious that the 'oor' in the Thanjavur is a 'city'. Thanjai+oor seems proper etymology. Words like 'agglomeration' can be replaced with simpler ones. "Entertainment and Cinema", "TV Channels" may merit their own page, or have some detail added here. I know 'Parveen' is 'Parveen Talkies', as are other halls. In the section on Agriculture, citations are needed for grain production and export with years. A photograph could show "Thanjavur Plates." There is a citation for 'Geographical Location' which seems unnecessary. There is text appended to the References Section that may need relocating. -- Betasam - Talk 14:48, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Query: Changes to Passive Voice
I just noticed a series of edits switching to passive voice. The article was earlier corrected to be in active voice. Is there specific rationale behind this switch Ravi. I am asking as I didn't notice such an effort earlier. --Betasam - Talk 00:52, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
