Synonymies
editHello Stemonitis. The authors of that Lethaia paper (39: 265–286) included a nice diagram of Thalassinoides intergrading with other ichnogenera, but write in the text: "For this reason, intergradation of traces belonging to different ichnogenera is not grounds for synonymy." No one that I know (and I work in this field) has ever synonymized that list of ichnogenera. They each represent separate behaviors, even if by the same organisms. It is confusing, but such is ichnotaxonomy. Does this make sense? Best, Wilson44691 (talk) 18:19, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
