This article was created by redirecting the different Sikan and Washshukanni articles to the new Tell el Fakhariya article. The short information provided in each of the old articles was reprinted here, with some editing.

Until prospective future discoveries are made, Tell el Fakhariya is unavoidable as the best suggestion for Washukanni, and is referred to everywhere in the literature. Excavations in the Khabur river valley the past decades have ruled out much of the other candidates previously suggested. --JFK 14:18, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

What is the actual pronunciation of the name of this tell? The Arabic spelling تل الفخيرية (tl alfxyryh, with "y" after the "x" (=kh)) indicates either tall al-faxīriyyah or tall al-fuxayriyyah; these might be colloquially pronounced -fxīriyya or -fxēriyya, but definitely not -faxariyya or fexeriyya, which the English spellings seem to suggest. Does anyone know where the English spellings come from and what are they supposed to represent? They surely don't correspond with the Arabic spelling!
