Tats are a subgroup of Persians and speak a Persian dialect related to middle-Persian Pahlavi. They also claim ancestry from the Sassanid Persians. I added this text into the article.

Tats of the Caucasus speak a Southwestern Iranic languge, a Persian dialect. Tats of Iran do not speak Persian but Northwestern Iranic dialects belonging to the Talysh branch.--Polycopy (talk) 03:32, 20 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
