Stretton--northern Cheshire or southern Cheshire?
editStretton, Warrington has the co-ordinates 53.3381N 2.5775W.
Stretton, Cheshire West and Chester has the co-ordinates 53.3422N 2.5736W.
I compared them by location on Google Earth and found they are not very far apart. The surrounding villages are all the same.
There is another Stretton in Cheshire which should really be Stretton, Cheshire West and Chester. It is located near the town of Malpas and has the co-ordinates 53.0689N 2.8244W.
In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Stretton like this:
- "STRETTON, a township in Tilston parish, Cheshire; 4¼ miles N W of Malpas. Acres, 900. Real property, £1,278. Pop., 94. Houses, 18."
