Talk:Steam (poker)

Steam/Tilt

edit

This page is very, very, very similar to the page for Tilt. In fact they both admit there are only small differences. I think they should be merged as one page.

They are similar (as noted in both articles, but different, like offensive and defensive fouls in basketball. They're also listed separately in poker glossaries. If anything, I'd like to see more additions to differences.
If they are merged, though, the combined article should be renamed something like Tilt/Steam.

Merger Proposal

edit

I see no good reason to keep this page. The content is identical to Tilt (poker), and contributes nothing worthwhile. I don't think a page rename is necessary for the article on tilt, but perhaps a redirect or ambiguity link would suffice. SnoopJeDi (talk) 21:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Again, it the consensus is to merge, than a combined name should be reflected in the final article. Despite similarities, they ARE different as poker players will tell you.

Can you find references from a reputable source that back up the significant difference that merits a name change on the main article? I agree that they're different terms, but there is no content here that distinguishes steam from tilt in a meaningful way. In other words, merging this article into the tilt article would contribute NO new content, so a name change seems unjustified, given that steam is already discussed in the tilt article. Changing the link on the disambiguation page seems like a good compromise between the two. SnoopJeDi (talk) 22:09, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Keep this page, but rewrite it. The disambiguation page is fine, but the article does a not so good job distinguishing between the two. The term is legitimate, but needs to be better related and contrasted. --64.45.228.207 (talk) 07:52, 27 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
