"Armoured"?

Why is everything written in U.K english? --Anon.

Simply because that is how it started. Normally, one would leave it as it is, per policy, but it is also standard practice to change the spelling to a subject's nationality. As it is an American game, AFAIK, you could change it if you wish. --Maru (talk) Contribs 19:03, 21 November 2005 (UTC)

WOW!

I didn't know this page existed! I was going to make one! I love this game! It is extremely fun, and I can't wait to buy the sequel. Dragon Expert 20:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Grammar and Punctuation

This article could use a little cleanup in grammar and puctuation. ЄИЄЯפЇЄ 03:23, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Missions/Plot Outline?

I was just wondering if anyone was planning on adding a missions/plot outline to the page, much like the one that is on Battlefront II's entry? I haven't played the game so I don't know if it just isn't as structured as the sequel, I just figured that it may be something of relevance that someone could add.

Most of the 2-3 sentence battle articles relating to this game will be merged. Deckiller 21:16, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

The original Battlefront didn't have much of a plot in comparison to the sequel. It simply consisted of an introduction with a video clip which would then have a page of text accompanied by a general (such as Yoda) reading said text. MafiaCapo 21:40, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Lead section

The lead section is extremely long. I recommend reducing it by half. Deckiller 21:16, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

I added {{cleanup}} becausem as Deckiller said, the lead section is ridiculously long. Additionally, the main article looks like it should be restructured, and glancing at the page, there may be information in the lead section not contained elsewhere in the page. I would {{sofixit, but I know nothing about the game, and so... --Awesome 10:23, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

NPOV

Throughout the entry (especially apparent in the sequel and demo sections) the articles seem biased against the retail version of Battlefront without offering sufficent sources. MafiaCapo 21:46, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

critical response

Someone get the critical response up! I searched around and couldn't find reviews that said the demo indicated that the game was rushed. Visit this site to get reviews: [1]

A-Wings and Interceptors

The A-wing and TIE Interceptor entries on this need to be removed- they are only on Battlefront II. I would do it, but there's something about, like a 3-revert rule that I don't understand. But I think it pertains to this. LawnGnome 21:21, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that WP:3RR doesn't relate to this issue. Anyway, content removed. EVula 21:27, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
My apologies - I've only played BFII. Thanks for catching it. --klaus
so the three revert thingy doesn't apply? OK, I'll look into that a little closer, thanks. LawnGnome 00:16, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't know why it would, unless there was a prior conflict over that that I missed. The 3RR normally applies to admins who like to play god. --klaus

Glitches

what happened to the glitch section of the game?

Glitches are not very important to the Star Wars: Battlefront article, and are not very noteworthy anyway. bibliomaniac15 22:49, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Added a new picture

I have just added a picture under the "Critical Response Area" that looks like this:

It needs to be m,oved to one side or another however I can't do this, please do so. Thanks! --Stealth500! 17:02, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Criticism needing sourcing

I have removed this large chunk of material because it is unsourced. If you can provide substantiation, please return it to the article --EEMIV (talk) 00:31, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

EEMIV, I really don't think this is a good idea, If you would like me to source it I will try but there isn't much to do. Please leave it. --Stealth500! (talk) 00:33, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
See my comments on your talk page. In short, though, the burden of proof is on editors who add or restore material. This material has been flagged for sources since March; I doubt they exist, and believe that most of this is just people's opinion. Without attribution, it is unencyclopedic and inappropriate in the article. --EEMIV (talk) 00:37, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
May I put the picture that was there back somewhere else in the article? --Stealth500! (talk) 00:43, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I've added it. --EEMIV (talk) 00:48, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. I was wondering if you could tell me how to get it to one side or another, (I know this is offtopic though....)--~~~~

Critical response

Although receiving good reviews, there were some criticisms for the game.

Vehicles

The star wars battlefront vehicles range from small, agile speeders to massive walkers that act as mobile Command Posts. Most of the battlefields in the game include playable vehicles for infantry, but battlefields such as Kamino: Tipoca City and Bespin: Cloud City have none of these[1]. Many of the vehicles in Star Wars Battlefront were deemed to be overpowered[2]. This is because it would usually take infantry from many different classes to bring down one vehicle, something which the AI were criticized for not being able to do. The AI (or Artificial Intelligence) WEre not set up to do anything to tanks, therefore players have to take the tanks down which is very hard to do. The AI also get stuck in some areas if they drive the tanks. This was particularly evident with the AT-AT vehicle, on which infantry weapons did negligible damage. Since the AT-AT serves as a mobile command post, from which units can spawn, maps where they are present are difficult for the rebels to win.

Infantry

[Picture Should Be here] The infantry in the game were criticized for their blandness. Every faction essentially had the same basic types of units -- an infantry unit with a rapid-fire blaster, an anti-vehicle unit firing explosives, a "pilot" unit that heals and repairs other units, a sniper unit, and one special unit that provided the only real variation between factions. These units included Wookiees, Droideka's, Jet Troopers and Dark Troopers. Each of the Factions' the units had slightly differing capabilities from each other -- different secondary weapons, different clip sizes -- but critics claimed the overall experience of playing each faction still felt too similar, although it had to be to make the fighting fair on each side with none being better than the other. The blandness can be made up by maps and other styles made by the Star Wars: Battlefront BFBuilder which is a map maker.

PS2 Version

The PlayStation 2 Version was criticized as the weakest version of Battlefront. It had limited multiplayer support. The multiplayer was the most criticized part of the PS2 experience. The PS2 version could only support 16 players, but that was via a PC using special software. If such software wasn't used, then the PS2 could only have 4 human players with 6 AI-controlled bots, which on larger maps, proved to be inadequate and unsatisfactory to many players.

In addition, the PS2 version had several bugs. The game had difficulties with sorting servers and connecting as well as communicating over the headset.[3]

Demo

There was a playable game demo in the original Star Wars Trilogy bonus DVD. If put into an Xbox, an early version of the Battle of Endor mission is playable. Differences in the graphics and sound are slight, but those in gameplay are significant. Each side has only three classes to choose from (Imperials have the Stormtrooper, Scout Trooper, and Imperial Pilot, while the Rebels have their standard soldier, the Vanguard trooper, and Wookiees, who have arc welders). Instead of turrets, there are blasters mounted on walls, and walls without blasters can be built. The shield bunker cannot be entered. There are no medical or ammo droids, only health and ammo stations that must be "built" with arc welders to use. Finally, a feature was dropped from the final game that gave the main infantry weapons (the blaster rifles and thermal detonators) alternate functions. For example, the rebel soldier's rifle can be fired in semi-automatic mode or "charged" to release a more powerful shot.

Demo

I know the section "Demo" was removed however I think it would be good to put it back, explain what it has and then get a link to it..... --Stealth500! (talk) 23:22, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

renegade squadron

I think that renegade squadron needs its own article. Thoughts? Josh Rampart (talk) 05:11, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

There is one: Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron

Critical Reception

In the Critical Reception is says, "The PS2 version had several bugs, such as difficulty sorting servers and communicating over the headset." What does that have to do with it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flamingtorch372 (talkcontribs) 02:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Some Changes that should be made

Hello Wikipedia, about 2 months ago User:EEMIV reverted a lot of this topic so it looked a lot cleaner. THis was a great thing however after that had been done this article no longer has much information. I was wondering if anyone was intrested/could get this set up to be ok wikipedia projects so that it could become a better article.... --Talk to Stealth500 (talk) 22:17, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Number of players for Xbox

The number of players online for the Xbox is 24 according to the official website, but I can remember it being 32. Anyone???? StaticGull (talk) 14:34, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Release Date Confusion?

I was looking some stuff up and I saw this. It says the release date was September 20 2004, however Wikipedia says September 21 2004. However I also saw this Which accounts for September 21st. The date should either be changed with the first link as a reference or leave it as it is and add this as a reference. Stealth (talk) 12:59, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Gonk Droid

I recently added the Gonk Droid to the see also section of this page, it was then reverted by EEMIV... I am wondering what others think. It is actually a quite large component of this game... For players to get "Ammo" you have to get it from the Gonk Droid, therefore I would think it IS important..... Feedback? (edits:These are the edits I was speaking of Thanks Stealth (talk) 12:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like game-guide trivia. If it's worth mentioning when discussing gameplay (i.e. in the prose), then link it there. --EEMIV (talk) 12:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Possible "hidden" vandalism?

tp://www.lucasarts.com/games/swbattlefront/ FAQ on Lucas Arts Site</ref> based around battles featured in the Star Wars films. It was developed by Pandemic Studios and LucasArts, and released on September 21, 2004, for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows, the same day as the release of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set. Aspyr released a Mac port in July 2005. People can either play Battlefront online with up to fifty players on PC (contrary to the stated thirty-two player limit), the Mac version has a limit of 32 players (or more < --How much more? --> on LAN). The PS2 has a sixteen-player limit, or off line with up to two players. The Xbox version has a limit of thirty-two players<!- - On [4] it says the player number is 24, however I can remember it having thirty-two players online. Could someone confirm this???? -->. clearly there is a hidden edit "How much more?" and then a link to lucas arts page that one <!- - On [5] it says the player number is 24, however I can remember it having thirty-two players online. Could someone confirm this???? -->.
