Invention Claim

edit

The US patent for this device was filed in 1993.

I personally saw prototype slapper detonators in a UK development facility in 1975 and was well aware of their construction. The construction was, of course, classified at the time. The US patent post dates this time and therefore the patentee did not, in fact, invent the device.

My knowledge of the construction prior to the patent filing is sufficient to invalidate the patent. 20.133.0.13 (talk) 13:27, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

The US Patent, number given in article, was filed in 1971 and only published/granted in 1988. I assume/guess the 17.5 year delay was due to a secrecy order, although I'm only guessing. If you believe there is earlier examples (perhaps published/granted later?) then cite the patent. If you believe there is a 1993 patent that describes a *significant* device improvement, then cite the patent AND explain the significance. Thanks!174.130.71.156 (talk) 07:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Relatively recent? Not!

edit

The lead claims it's "relatively recent". The US Patent was filed in 1971. Unless we're talking about geology or cosmology, there's NOTHING "recent" about it.174.130.71.156 (talk) 07:10, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
