Talk:SitePal

Hi, I have substantially changed the text so it does not act as blatant ad - just trying to share what SitePal is about.

Notability Tag edit

I have removed both the "needs wikification" and "notability" tags from this article, as well as completed some re-org, sectioning and adding a criticism section to try to balance the commercial marketing tone of the rest of the article text.

There is no doubt that SitePal is notable, if only for the negative reaction that it gets on the web. Googling "hate SitePal" returns about 48,000 entries. They are mostly blog entries, unfortunately not citable in Wikipedia. I have included three reliable reviews of Sitepal here, but may add some more if I find ones with new things to say about it. SitePal certainly meets the notability guidelines in that it is extensively written about in third party publications, although the reviews are mostly critical.

This article still needs a lot of work, in particular:

  • Add more wikilinks to the article
  • Rework the existing text to change it to a more NPOV tone and make it sound less like a commercial for the product
  • Add more criticism and reviewer reactions to it
  • Perhaps add a section detailing how talking avatars like SitePal have impacted internet design culture and caused web designers to move away from any kind of animations on web pages as being distracting and counterproductive.

Fair use rationale for Image:SitePalLogo.JPG edit

Image:SitePalLogo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have added a new fair use rationale to the image page. Hopefully this will fill the bill. Ahunt 11:46, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Advertizement Tag edit

While meeting "notability" this article reads like a PR release from the company's brochure. The weak "criticism" section does nothing but supports the ad driven style of this article. Needs NPOV rework before meeting wiki standards. --Sicvolo (talk) 02:56, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
