- Because neither belongs there. They're not "types" of engine, ans especially not "types of block". Instead they're packaging levels for a spare part. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:17, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

editWhy are there two (poor) images of old, stripped-down engines? It's not a "short block" unless it's coming back from the reconditioner, in ready-to-use (after assembly) condition. They're not shipped away in that state, the term isn't applied to dismantled engines. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:17, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- 'Short block' means the block, crank, pistons, usually the sump and optionally the oil and water pumps. It has nothing to do with the condition of the parts. We often talked of sending the short block off to be reconditioned. As long as those parts are bolted together then it is called a short block. Thus, both the pictures on the page show a short block (before and after cleaning). Admitted though, the image quality is poor. Stepho talk 10:36, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
