Large Revision To Page; Disclosure of CoI

Hello, I am performing a large revision to this page. I am updating it with some more accurate info in regards to airings, more complete info about The Sharks (drawing their descriptions straight from the show's opening titles), and eventually including some sourced info on notable appearances on the show.

I am posting this to fully disclose that I am an employee of Shark Tank. I have read and understood the rules about "Conflict of Interest" and will do my very, very best to post only sourceable, encyclopedic information written in a neutral voice. If anyone feels the voice or information is not suitable, I invite them to correct it. Cgtmouse (talk) 17:36, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Cgtmouse, thanks for your honest, open and cooperative attitude and your good faith attempts to follow Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. When you have time please read WP:PRIMARY. The Shark Tank website is a primary source ie the show reporting on itself. Wikipedia states that primary sources should not be the foundation for an article.--KeithbobTalk 03:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

What's the Real Deal?

It has become apparent from the comments of at least one contestant, that the producers can exercize an option to take a "not insignificant" percentage of the presenter's business regardless of whether or not a deal is struck in the Shark Tank. The disclosure appears in the final credit role. I personally think that it is disingenuous for the show not to emphasise this aspect as the participants are not getting a free publicity ride in return for their participation. Google Scott Jordan, Scottevest for further details. Srlevine1 (talk) 11:34, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Primary Sources

At present more than half the article is either unsourced or is sourced by a single primary source (ABC's web page for Shark Tank). This content may need be removed if proper secondary sources can't be found per WP:RS and WP:PRIMARY.--KeithbobTalk 03:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

I have removed the entire section called Sharks, which was unsourced and tagged as such for more than a month. The section consisted of a listing of the names of all the panel members followed by an alleged transcript of the voice over introduction for each panel member. Aside from being unsourced, the content was fluff as all panel members are already listed in the article and their names have wikilinks to their BLPs so the reader has full access to sourced facts about the panel members and doesn't need the alleged promotional content that the show uses to puff up their panel members in a voice over at the beginning of each show. --KeithbobTalk 18:43, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
It's still the most important part of the show.--71.75.19.203 (talk) 23:52, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
In that case, it should be easy to find appropriate references. I agree that removing the section was drastic, but the uncited quotes must be removed due to copyright laws.66.87.4.142 (talk) 02:15, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Comments

I like this WikiArticle, however I've noticed, in the episode section, many of the entrepeneurs who pitched product or service idea weren't listed. For example: The woman who had the special line of bras that had readjustable straps. In addition, contrary to those who think that sharing which ideas got investors is a spoiler, I thought it would be cool if you also said which sharks invested in the idea. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.106.45.203 (talk) 15:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Parking chart here

We don't need a chart for one nomination that is already mentioned in the body of the article per WP:UNDUE. However, I am parking the chart here in case the show receives multiple awards in the future and in that case the chart may be useful as a summary of the awards.
