Stifle recently tagged this article with a "globalize" tag. Fair enough. Perhaps too many Wiki entries are USA-centric, however, I submit that perhaps it's not always possible to globalize every Wiki listing. I tried googling "Senior Portrait" and a number of other countries and found nothing. Not even a photographer in France, Canada or Mexico who offers such photography. I would submit that it's entirely possible that the USA is just vain enough to be the only country that markets what amounts to fashion photography for it's everyday common citizens. Just like the creation and early history of something like Mickey Mouse is pretty much limited to what happened in the USA, I believe Senior Portraits, as they are described here, are more or less a USA phenomenon. But more power to Stifle or anyone else if you can prove me wrong with a footnoted addition to this listing with the practice of senior portraiture as it is practiced in Ethiopia or some other country. --Mactographer (talk) 09:21, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- In the UK (and throughout the Westernised world I should imagine!), school portraits are very commonplace; whether they're done specifically for final year pupils is another matter. So maybe the article could be expanded and renamed to 'School portaits' to encompass the sub-genre. Just a suggestion. Anyway, I'll add the refs tag. I Agree with Stifle and Mactographer, this page doesnt really have any relevance outside of America. It also should not be a genre of photography, as it is a form of portraiture, only different in its subjects age. Deformat (talk) 16:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Senior / school potraiture *is* a sub-genre of portraiture; I therefore suggest a merger with the photographic portrait article, which may also reduce the spam-attracting potential of the page.
