Merge into gypsum

the bit about the aliens at the end should be put on the diambiguation page

I'm pretty sure that Satin-Spar and Selenite are two different minerals (though both types of gypsums), but i dont know enough about it to make a new page for satin-spar. Frail Elf 07:23, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

AshleyWitchcrafter 19:16, 10 March 2007 (UTC) I've written an article on selenite, satin spar, desert roses, and gypsum flowers - in that I would like to update the selenite article. However, being my first article, I would very much like to have it reviewed. I also have some pictures - but am awaiting on a couple for permission to reproduce at Wikipedia. The article is pasted below. The most "controversial" part of the article is the "Crystal Therapy" section. Plus I'm not sure if I've done references correctly, etc, etc. [Oops. I have disambiguated all incoming links to Selenite. While I was doing so, another editor added Selenite (mineral) to the section of selenium compounds. Selenite the mineral and selenite the ion have nothing in common except the name selenite. Just a note on temperature

I just deleted a phrase claiming the cave temperature was 58 degrees. I know this is commonly true in caves, but I had just read the National Geographic article on the Naica caves (the first in the list of off site links). That stated the temperature in the cave is 112 degrees and that when it was water filled it was 136 degrees. I don't know how to do citations so I did not add this information, but I thought I should remove the (unattributed) 58 degree figure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.238.184.235 (talk) 17:49, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Selenite confusion

A box of links was placed at the bottom of this article on the 15th of february. This box contained links to several selenites, selenates, tellurites, and tellurates that have pages on wikipedia. This was incorrect since selenite is not actually classed in the mineralogical group of 'selenites' since it does not contain the selenite ion. This is of course just an innocent case of confusion, so I have taken the liberty to remove this linkbox again.
