rockfish age?

edit

The article says that rockfish can live to be over 200. I've heard they are very long lived, but how does one tell how old a fish is?

Synonymy of Sebastes flammeus with Sebastes iracundus

edit

Balanov et. al. (2004) demonstrated that Sebastes flammeus (Jordan & Starks, 1904) is a junior synonym of Sebastes iracundus (Jordan & Starks, 1904). Therefore, sink Sebastes flammeus into Sebastes iracundus.

Balanov, A. A., A. D. Kukhlevskii and V. A. Brykov, 2004. Sebastes flammeus (Jordan et Starks, 1904), a junior synonym of S. iracundus (Jordan et Starks, 1904), with the description of fish from southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk. Voprosy Ikhtiol. v. 44 (no. 1): 5-14. [In Russian. English transl. in J. Ichthyol. v. 44 (no. 1):1-9.]

Expanding

edit

"Rockfish are an important sport and commercial fish, and many species have been overfished." This stuck out to me as something that could be expanded on. Maybe more on where they are overfished and why they are important. Coralshin (talk) 07:48, 23 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
